This T-Level placement in Business Administration will be offered by the Social Value team at SSE Energy Solutions. It will be an office-based placement which will allow the student to gain experience in a variety of areas, including administration, project development, and client engagement.

Location: Neo Building, Charlotte Street, Manchester, M1 4ET

About the placement

The successful student will work across both the Social Value team and Health and Safety team within the Manchester office to ensure administrative duties are completed.

An example of this may be that the student accompanies a member of the team to a meeting about a new upcoming project. They may then be supported in creating a spreadsheet to track the components of this project effectively. The student may then need to identify key individuals within the stakeholder map and share this spreadsheet with them in an open document so that changes are visible to everyone.

Whilst the student is with SSE, they will be taught a wide variety of administrative tasks and will leave with a strong understanding of how the business operates and the administrative functions that support this.

This placement will be offered on a one day per week basis, with the working hours of this position from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • SSE is an energy company involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of renewable electricity
  • This T-Level placement is in the Energy Solutions section of SSE plc.
  • SSE Energy Solutions oversee the execution of major projects, health and safety, growth and strategy and social value
  • The student will be working within the Social Value team, with support from the SHE (health and safety team) – all based within our Manchester region hub

About the T Level – Management and Administration

During the 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of management and administration occupations.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in management and administration.

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • business context – an overview of organisational cultures and values, different types of internal and external stakeholder, different forms of governance and the impact of organisations on society and the environment
  • project and change management – an understanding of the common change management theories and models and how to support and improve projects
  • business behaviours – the importance of good communication and adapting social communication styles to professional standards and according to purpose, medium and audience
  • quality and compliance – the importance of maintaining and improving quality in all aspects of public and private sector organisations
