About the placement

The role would be to work within a Design Team as a Technical Designer. Technicians who detail the design in REVIT the BIM (Building Information Modelling) Authoring software and our procurement department source, specify and cost the designs. This group works in a team of 6-7 in a similar manner to an Architects Practice. We believe that there is a massive gap in the market for Revit operators (BIM Technicians). This is a massive growth industry in Manchester and BIM technicians are required for all disciplines (Mechanical and Electrical; Architecture; Catering Design; Structures, Landscapes etc). We have a team of Technicians, and we are looking to recruit more and train T level students. The students would take part in Space Zero’s entry training programme

  • Base principles in Revit and understanding BIM
  • Understand the rules of design and how to space plan building up the ability to undertake more advanced designs.
  • Develop entry level skills in creation of BIM content known as Families
  • Understand how to create size and scale drawings.
  • Work on live projects with a design team.
  • Attend teams meeting to observe design team meetings.
  • Develop experience of a project site, the Common Data Environments (CDE)

We have an active set of meetings where we run internal improvement for all of our team, and this would be helpful for them to see the wider picture. This would give a good idea of the whole design process and levels of ability and Professional development available within the Revit Community.

We design from the inside out. From years of experience in understanding education environments and what goes on inside them, we know that to continually rethink their possibilities, we have to start with the needs of students and educators.

We design to make an impact. By applying good design, we can significantly enhance what these spaces can do for the people who use them. Performance, confidence, behaviour, attitude, attendance, values and ethics – improving all of these learning outcomes is the impact we strive to make.

We share expertise at every step. We believe that the most effective way of unlocking the potential of education environments is by working in partnership. This involves collaborating with global experts in their field and, from vision to delivery, handover and beyond, being close, positive partners to our clients.

We work with absolute integrity. Being open, honest and fair is the only approach for us. Whether it’s building relationships or building models, we’ll always apply unquestionable integrity to everything we do
