The Certificate in Applied Computing, developed with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, is part of the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc).
The MBacc is made up of seven gateways. A gateway is a route that connects your subject choices to real, growing job areas in Greater Manchester. Digital skills are important across all seven gateways, and these skills could really help you with your future choices.
Who it’s for
The Certificate in Applied Computing is for students aged 14-19. It’s a flexible, practical pathway for you to develop essential digital skills.
What you’ll learn
You’ll build practical skills in:
- creating digital content, including posters, audio and video
- building websites using web design principles
- working with data using spreadsheets
- exploring how AI systems can support creative and practical tasks
- staying safe online and using technology responsibly
The course is practical, flexible, and designed to fit around your schoolwork (around 2–4 hours a week). It can help you take your next step towards further study, apprenticeships or future jobs. Plus, you’ll get a certificate of completion from the Raspberry Pi Foundation to demonstrate your digital skills.
