Pre-Apprenticeship Programmes for 16-18 year olds
At NLTG’s Bury and Oldham Centre’s they offer two pre-Apprenticeship programmes as part of their Study Programme. These are Employability Skills and in-centre Traineeships. Both are tailored to the needs of 16-18 year olds who are not ready, or able, to directly enter an Apprenticeship, employment or other post 16 alternative. Programmes last between 24 and 34 weeks and include a high-quality work experience placement and a weekly bursary.

Traineeships in the Workplace for 16-18 year olds
NLTG’s 8 week in-company Traineeships for 16 to 18 year olds develop the vital skills employers look for. As well as providing a weekly bursary and an employer reference at the end of the programme, their Traineeships may also lead to a full-time Apprenticeship and employment.

Apprenticeships
NLTG’s work-based Apprenticeships are perfect for learners of all ages … whether you’re a school leaver looking to take your first steps to the perfect career, or are employed and looking to progress in your chosen profession.
They are available from Levels 2 to Level 5 in a wide variety of occupations:
- Business Administration
- Catering and Hospitality
- Routes include: food/beverage service, food production, front of house and housekeeping.
- Coaching
- Customer Service
- Furniture Occupations
- Sewing and Upholstery
- Routes include: manufacturing, finishing, installing, restoration/repair, wood machining, CNC operation, upholstery and sewing.
- Glass Fabrication & Installation
- IT and Digital Marketing
- Lean Manufacturing
- Team Leading, Project and Operations Management
- Warehousing and Logistics

How the courses are delivered
NLTG’s Pre-Apprenticeship programmes for 16-18 year olds are delivered at both our Bury and Oldham Centre. Their Apprenticeships are delivered in the workplace and our Commercial services are delivered either on employer premises or at NLTG Centres in Accrington.
