Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control Placement with Milliken & Company (Safety Team, Wigan)
The second year placement student would be allocated a suitably qualified and experienced mentor / manager for the duration of their placement with Milliken. They would be introduced, onboarded, and supported by their mentor throughout their placement who would also act as their line manager, assuming responsibility for the individual’s welfare, and providing supervision and pastoral support.

About the placement
All required IT will be provided for the individual, with access to the relevant internal Milliken systems, intranet, and software packages necessary for the activities they will be undertaking.
You will be helping to keep our associates safe!
You will do this by improving our safety systems, by conducting Risk Assessments, by conducting audits. You will be making a real contribution!
You can only do this if you are part of the team, which requires you to speak with a diverse group of people across the business on a daily basis.
By the time you finish your work at Milliken you will have a great understanding of safety systems within an organisation, and you will have added real value. You never know, you may want to come back!
Milliken will provide expenses for public transport and lunch. We don’t want anyone to be out of pocket!
For some T-Levels students there may also be opportunities for paid work, e.g. summer jobs.

About the T Level – Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control
During the 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of engineering, manufacturing, process and control occupations.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in engineering, manufacturing, processing and control.
Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:
- working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors – an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
- essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing – a knowledge and understanding of mathematics including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry
- materials and their properties – understanding material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality, the condition of materials, how these are managed, and materials testing methods and techniques
- business, commercial and financial awareness – basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation
