Digital Business Services Placement with Milliken & Company (Manufacturing Team)
The second year placement student would be allocated a suitably qualified and experienced mentor / manager for the duration of their placement with Milliken. They would be introduced, onboarded, and supported by their mentor throughout their placement who would also act as their line manager, assuming responsibility for the individual’s welfare, and providing supervision and pastoral support.

About the placement
All required IT will be provided for the individual, with access to the relevant internal Milliken systems, intranet, and software packages necessary for the activities they will be undertaking.
You need to be very digitally curious!
Primarily working in Manufacturing, we want you to help us progress our digital agenda with the aim of making our associates jobs easier.
Your main task will be to help us develop, train and use products like Power BI or Power Apps.
You may also be tasked with training others how to use the Apps.
You may be tasked to digitise a manual process.
At our manufacturing sites you will be working alongside real people, who make stuff! You need to be comfortable asking questions and listening to answers.
You will be successful if you like being part of a team.
By the time you finish your work at Milliken you will have a great understanding of how digitalisation is critical in the world of manufacturing, and you will have added real value.

Milliken will provide expenses for public transport and lunch. We don’t want anyone to be out of pocket!
For some T-Levels students there may also be opportunities for paid work, e.g. summer jobs.

About the T Level – Digital Business Services
During the 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of digital occupations.
This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in IT, specifically in areas such as IT solutions or data analysis.
Students will develop an understanding of:
- how digital technologies impact business and market environment
- the ethical and moral implications of digital technology
- using data in software design
- using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
- digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
- legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
- the privacy and confidentiality of personal data
- the technical, physical and human aspects of internet security
- planning digital projects
- testing software, hardware and data
- digital tools for project management and collaboration
