The Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team, design, development, implement, and evaluate an organisational approach to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) ensuring that wherever possible the EDI development needs and implications for the workforce are considered, aligned to GMCA agreed objectives, under the People’s Strategy in relation to service development, progressive working practices and major policy initiatives related to EDI.

About the placement

Your role will be business administration support for the team to ensure comprehensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusive activity runs efficiently across all parts of the organisation, being part of inclusive culture change in the way that people build good inclusive practice across the organisation. You will support the administration for programmes of work. Including support for our internal Steering groups e.g. Chairs, Reps and Senior Sponsor group, White Ribbon, Stonewall and Race Equality Matters to drive improvements to support inclusive culture change.

You will offer business support where needed for our staff networks, organisation wide initiatives and projects relating to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

You will be joining our EDI Team, who work collaboratively across directorates engaging with internal customers, clients and stakeholders to provide internal focused consultancy, EDI training, support, guidance and signposting. Supporting the organisation to developing a culture of responsibility, accountability, performance and service improvement to ensure we comply with Equality and Human rights legislation, our Public Sector Equality Duty and industry good practice.

Working with colleagues across the People Service’s Team demonstrating commitment to developing and sharing learning, building expertise and confidence at every level of the organisation, from the point of application throughout employee’s careers with us.

We bring an informed view and expertise to the delivery and support of strategies, policies and plans to enhance the organisations inclusive culture to demonstrate outstanding outcomes, empower and engage all employees, recognise, and celebrate diversity, all to better serve the communities of Greater Manchester.

Some examples of the work you may be doing include:

  • Working with the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Team
  • Booking events for staff network activity
  • Attending EDI meetings, recording action summaries from meetings
  • Attending EDI planning meetings to capture actions
  • Supporting the planning and preparation for EDI events.

About the T Level – Management and Administration

During the 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of management and administration occupations.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in management and administration.

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • business context – an overview of organisational cultures and values, different types of internal and external stakeholder, different forms of governance and the impact of organisations on society and the environment
  • project and change management – an understanding of the common change management theories and models and how to support and improve projects
  • business behaviours – the importance of good communication and adapting social communication styles to professional standards and according to purpose, medium and audience
  • quality and compliance – the importance of maintaining and improving quality in all aspects of public and private sector organisations
