Starling: Creative Projects for Neurodivergent Young People

Starling are a group of neurodivergent artists and creatives who run free creative arts workshops for neurodivergent young people aged 13-25 across Greater Manchester.

Their workshops are run by professional artists and creatives and offer opportunities to:

  • Meet like-minded people
  • Make new creative work
  • Learn new skills
  • Choose your own activities
  • Relax and have fun!

There are loads of creative actitivies to choose from, like:

  • Visual arts (painting, drawing, making, designing, print-making, ceramics)
  • Digital arts (animation, character design, illustration, film making, gaming, VR)
  • Performing arts (music, drama, movement)

Neurodivergent? Neurodivergent means having a brain that works differently, e.g. autism, ADHD, learning disability, mental health, epilepsy, tourettes, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, trauma (young carer, care experienced, refugee) and many more…

What summer projects are on offer?

Trafford (Old Trafford)

Where: Sharon Youth Centre,

Dates: 9th, 10th, 11th August 2022

Time: 11am-3pm (ages 13-25)

Activities: A range of creative activities, including film making, sound, video game music and printmaking. You choose what you like!

Tameside (Droylden)

Where: Moravian College,
Fairfield Sq.,
M43 6AD

Dates: 16th, 17th, 18th August 2022

Time: 11am-12:30pm (ages 13-18)
1:30-3pm (ages 18-25)

Activities: A range of creative activities, including jewellery making, video game music, and creative writing. You choose what you like.

Manchester (Wythenshawe)

Where: Lawton Moor Methodist Church,
Button Lane

Dates: 30th, 31st August; 1st September 2022

Time: 11am-12:30pm (ages 13-18)
1:30-3pm (ages 18-25)

Activities: A range of visual and performance art activities, including printmaking, music and movement sessions. You choose what you like!
